''Yes agree....it's also an irrational fear toward anybody different to themselves.''

technically speaking - it's not irrational

it's designed into our species - the animal, and we are that animal

it's us and it's in us

what we need to do is to understand ourselves - to observe, to grasp where we are in time and era, to grasp that we no longer rove in small bands of half a dozen or 10 or 20 and that the 'other' mob are not the natural enemy

we allow ourselves to too easily cave in to our nature

and it is not easy to control. But, controlled - it should be. If it is not - then, we go nowhere

which is pretty much where we are ----------- nowhere

One look at the Middle East tells us that.

For people who are prepared to try to leave their beliefs and biases at home -

going out into the street and into the supermarket and actually LOOK how people interact is insightful

walk the supermarket aisles and notice how different people are treated and treat others differently -

old men, young kids, old women, black people, white people, people in religious garb, people in suits and people in daggy clothes, people with beards, people clean shaven, tall people, short people - etc etc

we are an animal - and we have not left behind our most basic animal instincts and behaviours ----------- we might hide them a bit - but, it takes very little of the surface to be scratched for them to come out in full colour

the 'special' kinds of people - never question this stuff, are almost never aware of these things and have very little control over themselves at all

    need refs ------------ read HC
