The existing rail line would not/can not be needed/used for any thing other than sugar cane transport...The two alternatives are either Contractor owned/operated dump trucks, or, as in the Gove operation, an overland conveyor..
The Gove conveyor extends/extended, from Pit to shipping terminal for a distance of approx. 26kms.
One other advantage for a conveyor is that it is easily and simply installed and can be re-positioned with a minimum of terrain disturbance... Maintenance requirements are simple and a lot less expensive than for a fleet of Dump Trucks..
