FoxTel, the Telstra and News Corp JV, is losing multi-million AUD every year on this game, so having someone more popular than their present unpopular commentators such as Frank McGuire MP’s little brother Eddie, Dermot Brereton, Mark Howard, Kelli Underwood and the other lesser lights would be good.
FoxTel should not be paying more than Nine Network but given how Sky paid Alan Jones more for switching from NEC’s 2GB, Sam Newman probably knew how to get an increased salary, go to the competition.
I do not know how the unpopular Fox Sports and FoxTel can continue to lose money for TLS and NWS.
I doubt even Sam Newman can arrest FoxTel’s decline into administration.
The game is basically bust.
Giving Sam Newman a different soapbox is unlikely to halt the destruction IMHO.
