40% of loans until recently were Interest Only. 0% were Interest Only in the '80's coz it wasn't allowed (I believe). Like it's not allowed in Singapore and most other countries because they know better. As someone pointed out during the GFC, the last useful innovation banks came up with was the ATM. Now maybe online banking. But all these "products" nowadays? Brrr..
