Every mainland capital city except Perth has seen home values rise in the first five months of 2009, according to the monthly RP Data-Rismark Home Value Index.
The index confirms that home values in Australia continued to trend upwards in May. The national median is now $468,819 - just 0.1% (or $520) below the peak of February 2008.
The Home Value Index recorded an overall increase of 0.9% in May and a 3.9% gain over the first five months of 2009. During the 12 months to May, Australian home values have increased 1.6%.
