Good pick up as I just read it.

Here are the real facts as has been mentioned by a number of reporters in recent times.

(1) Telstra 18% return, that would be more like 10-12% if the Gov't puts in the FREE money then only need about 6-8% return. I still beleive the Gov't will not have any money for the pie which will only leave Telstra to go it alone. All other potential bidders will walk away.
(2) There will be some compromise on regulation from both sides depending on the Gov't contribution.
(3) If Telstra does not build tehn it will NOT be built. If the Gov't takes the line to build anyway ot will be a real schmozzle and tehy will be calling Telstra in too fix the problems and continue the build, at a much higher rate.
(4) Telstra will bid today
(5) No cheap money in the workd any more
(6) This Canadian entity is just a RED HERRING
(7) Terria is a joke (there will only be Optus left soon)
(8) Singtel is committed both by money and people to build the Singapore equivalent at the moment. They cannot build 2 at once.
