    "My opinion is that both Old and New Testament have a good dose historical truth, often translated poorly, edited with different motives, and mixed with allegory, parable, and myth.

    But they have much more validity and value than their score on historic accuracy.

    Their value lies mostly in the presentation and teaching of moral behavior by man, and the values that should be cultivated for human society to...um...evolve in a positive direction.

    To the extent that the morals and behavior espoused therein advance human happiness, create harmony and peace, and elevate the moral condition of people, they are "true."

    To the extent that the morals and behavior espoused create less human happiness and more suffering than we already have, they are "false." "

    I note that in general you stick to the morals and behaviour, often "policeman" aspects of religion, but the "um" as above prompts me to ask if you might expand on "evolve in a positive direction" or see any other role for the so called world religions .. either for an individual or the Human species ?
