    Scientific and atheist states

It is amazing to me that readers do not see the harmful relationship that ideas like "natural justice"

and "science" have had on political theory and recent human history.

COMMUNISM was founded on the idea that its system was "scientific", that the "natural evolution" of human society would

ultimately result in the communist system. It was avowedly atheist and hostile to all religious beliefs.

The Soviets always prided themselves on science and claimed that their system was superior on account of it.

It was rational, it was based on the material, it was irrefutable.

Of course, it was one of the great failures in human history. Too bad millions of Russians were murdered on account of it.

Oh well. Much better to have the people starving or in gulags, than to have them believing in their fairy tales and other rubbish.

NAZI GERMANY That most Germans were Christian or Catholic is one of the frightening things about what happened.

It is not the fault of the religious values in Cathilicism or Protestantism; it is the fault of individuals, both leaders and followers,
in following the principles. It shows what people are capable of...in a bad way.

Big believes in science, those Nazis. They loved Darwin.... "survival of the fittest", "might makes right", and the application of "natural law", meaning if they can kill and steal and plunder and get away with it, they were going to do it.

They also liked genetics and were going to make a lot of improvements to the human race.

They did good propaganda and got elected. But killing millions of innocent people is a little stronger evidence of lack of religious values, than propaganda is of their presence. It is pretty obvious that Hitler hated real religious values, whether he was "brought up catholic" or not.

To suggest they had religious values is pretty strange, unless you consider murder, racism, slave labor, and warmaking to be religious values. They had no morality at all, other than their interests and their ability to satisfy their desires by any means available.
    **

This is not to say science is bad. Or even atheism.

But they both leave something to be desired, when used as guides to political theory and philosophy.
