    You keep saying the word 'democracy' but it doesn't mean what you seem to believe it means. Now firstly I don;t think having 51% of the population dictate how the other 49% live their lives but that's a different discussion.

    Democracy is, basically 'majority rules' and what we have always had is a system where the 'majority' (assuming the election process is honest of course) gets to pick which gang lords it over us unaccountably for the next 3 years. There is absolutely NO formal mechanism whereby 'we the people' can direct government to act, or not act according to our wishes. Voting does NOTHING to change the main agenda and both government and the (faux) opposition are merely 2 heads on the same snake working to the same end. We are a kakistocracy or a 2-party legislative dictatorship at best, we have NEVER been a democracy, or if we have it would have been way before I was born.
