Malaysian here.
Any side of Malaysia except for the upper west side is safe. Read up on the last Tsunami in 2004, I remember Penang got hit the hardest out of all Malaysia, but the damage is minute compared to, say, India.
Lynas is on the East side, perfectly safe from Tsunami from West, East and South. North on the other hand...
