Totally agree sledgehammer, beach should look at doing a on market share buyback over the next three years, from memory they can buy back up to 5% of the share capital a year with out shareholder approval.
Why invest in other companies when your company is the best value company to buy in O&G sector in Oz, IMO.
a on market share buyback done properly has a number of positive effects increase earnings per share, gives the share price some momentum and increases the share price.
Beach have to much cash sitting in the bank; and it will only increase more with the development of the high margin western front over the next year as more oil comes on line.
If they spent between $50-100 million a year over the next three years on share buybacks; they would give the share price a good kick; buy on weak days sell a little on strong days....
Beach have to be a bit smarter with there capital management, they are getting the runs on the board with there operations and are doing a great job, but in this sort of market just doing that is not enough, shareholders want to see sustained share price appreciation as well, when they have put there faith and hard earned cash into the company..
