jeez forest and bird society are among the strongest lobbyist in NZ.
Can't believe they were the main lobby group that successfully halted the Hawkesbay water scheme.
They also lobbied DOC to purchase a large piece of scrub land from our family.
At the time it was a commercial firewood block which required DOC permission to repair the access way beside the river ever time it faltered due to flooding and slippage (every two years or so).
Getting approval to do this was never an issue until forest and Bird decided the scrub, which was being harvested for firewood on private land, was precious to them.
IMHO they are left wing extremist
