Historically gold has always gone up in time of uncertainty, or when there is a real / perceived threat in the world. The price of gold dropped dramatically after the election results. You don't need to be Einstein to work out that the world feels safer based on the historical price and this recent drop, whether it is or not is completely irrelevant, because it altered the price of gold anyway, and therefore it altered the price of silver. My personal feelings about Trump have nothing to do with the very real fact that the price of gold took an over $200 an oz nose dive.
The reason I didn't want to get into a political debate is because this is a stock trading forum for discussing stock, not Facebook where we can air our grievance about how unjust it is that he got in, or that we hate his dumb comb-over, or he is the wrong colour (orange), or whatever we have against the man. You can either accept that people feel safer or you can't, but it makes no difference to the price of gold going down. That is now a historical fact it went down, and no one's political opinion is going to change that simple fact. Ergo it is not worth making it into a political hot topic, it is now recorded history.
You will also note that I said "feel" safer, I didn't say we actually were, because I feel a long way from safe in this world right now with all this political tension and wars going on, but the market reacts to what it perceives, it doesn't need to be real for the market to think it is.
