ASX used to show broker numbers next to every transaction. In the paper-contract note days, we could also read the name and address of the seller.
Seems to me that 'shorters' do not need a limitless supply. Accumulate in dribs and drabs, and dump in one lot to bring down the quote a notch.
They're not even shorters, only manipulators. Computer trading can hide it oh so well from us dummies.
