I do like reading your posts. I can see the philosopher in you. Your posts are generally very logical and well laid out; which sort of distinguishes them.
The reason that I think that we are headed for deflation is based upon gut-feel. (I reckon most decisions are gut -we seek to then find facts to back up the gut). The gut-feel comes from a belief that most people seem to think that we are smart enough - now - to avoid deflation. This sentiment was pretty much the crux of your post about foreign policy. It was pretty much along the lines of "they won't let it happen" (more-or-less).
I think that this sentiment crops up over big issues. Think about the aftermath of WWI which lead to the League of Nations that would stop future conflicts - we had learn't so much from WWI that it would never happen again!
The world faces deflation; but the authorities now know how to avoid it. What's more they have forums such as the G20 to discuss solutions. Gulp! And help!
