Son, there are numerous reasons for the Coalition not winning outright.
Here's a small sample.
1) Gillard is a woman, many woman voted on that fact alone.
2) Preference deal cut with greens, massive disparity in number of preferences flowing to Coalition in seats that had the preference deal compared to those without.
3) First term governments simply do not get the boot.
4) Although Abbott performed well, his massive gaff about gospel truth was effectively used against him to turn many voters off.
5) Many people believe that the ALP has performed rather well over the last three years, particularly those that take zero interest in politics.
6) Many people voting Green, Windsor and Oakshot were totally unaware that there vote would end up placing Labor in government.
7) Many ignorant people still believe that the worst aspects of WorkCoices would be reintroduced (if only they hadn't gone too far, bugger)
