Infill drilling will only increase the confidence of the resource estimate, taking it from inferred to indicated status for example.
Drilling costs money and too much drilling can erode the value of a deposit through higher costs. The geology may not be complex and it might string together with minimal drilling.
Producers need to know all the treatment options. High grade vs low grade, lump vs fines etc. Producers can blend high grade with low grade and add 5 years to a mine life by extracting all material possible, including some sub-grade volume.
It is complex business and the details are the difference between a company making money vs a lot of money.
