    From Psalty post 62970734
"Pilot plants are built and operated to gain knowledge and prove the process, not to make money. They don't have economies of scale and require more skilled research staff. Once you have operated the pilot plant and gained the knowledge you were looking for it makes sense to shut it down and save money."

The thing is that NTU's original off-take agreement with JFMAG was to be supplying them with 1100 tonnes of carbonate annually and the 1100 tonne was actually the plants nameplate.
Also NTU went down the line saying that, production above the 1100 tonne is not spoken for and available for a separate agreement.
Substantiated from ASX Ann 20/02/2019 presentation - Page 25

The other thing that NTU had said is that the pilot plant would become cash flow positive, and if it had have, of course it would still be in operation today generating dollar$.

Did NTU ever succeed in either of these two objectives?
    NO! & NO!!

I well and truly understand as to where Psalty is coming from in his above wordings in relation to the pilot plant, BUT, that is far from the picture that NTU themselves were painting.
