There is no conflict. Paper gold to ride the obvious price disparity that existed. And hard wheat and white rice for TEOTWAWKI.

For TEOTWAWKI I would much rather have other forms of archaic currency - think whiskey, grains, salt etc than a lump of metal.

If you reckon that gold is still far too cheap, then think of how ridiculously cheap other old forms of currency are.

ps: so I assume that you are going to ring the Perth Mint today, and they will tell you that there isn't any gold to sell you. Oh, but if you want some unallocated gold, they have tonnes of the stuff.
