Coring operations esp. over such a large interval are usually stressful for the personnel involved as there's a lot of people onboard to help with this activity. Unlike routine drilling, there isn't any circulation activity going.
Their primary focus is to conduct the Ops safely, log the open hole, cut more core haul it back to surface, lay it out, log that open section again.
Monitor the hole in case its taking a drink (ie fluid losses), top up the hole with fluids, cut more core, log with MWD/LWD tool, trip out... repeat till 200m of core is retrieved. Barrel is usually 9m long so there rmultiple core runs depending on the length of barrel they opt for (ie 27m, 54m etc). 100% recovery of core is what one aims for, so cant simple stab it & jamm up the barrel. Slow process.
Once on surface, they cut the core into 1 metre long sections for safe haulage so more safety matters in place.
At this point the core is still inside the core barrel, so when their coring contractor starts cutting it up, the WS Geo takes a note of the lithology exposed at the top & bottom metre of the core & checks for any fluoresence from the cutting or dripping oil sample etc whilst the rest of the core is sealed off for transport to the onshore Lab. That's done for the entire 200m core sample (they work 24 hrs on the rig even on wkends).
After which they run back into the hole with the 8.5" drill bit & commence drilling the towards TD.
Obviously the unknown is how much core was retrieved (ie 100% recovery) & what they've encountered - for which WL Logging data is the key to estimate the gross, net thickness, porosity, oil saturation etc.
Nxt couple of updates will b important. So that's the long & short version of it.
Enjoy the 'normal' wk'end hours.
