In the US, most production shale gas wells start up at around 2,000-8,000 mscf/d. So the current report averaging under 500 mscf/d seems unspectacular, even disappointing. I realize the well isn't done emptying liquids yet, but this isn't big news I think.
Maybe someone who is more technical can compare the reported numbers against other successful fracked wells at the same stage of development? Does anyone have a time graph showing flow rates over time for a range of wells that ended up having commercial production rates?
