AWE’s Woodada Deep-1 update AWE Limited advises that the hydraulic fracture stimulation of the first two zones in AWE LIMITED LEVEL 16, 40 MOUNT STREET NORTH SYDNEY NSW 2060 AUSTRALIA P +61 2 8912 8000 F +61 2 9460 0176 E [email protected] ABN 70 077 897 440 www.awexplore.com the Woodada Deep -1 well, targeting the Middle Carynginia (2370 m to 2425 m) and Upper Carynginia (2283 m to 2330 m) shale formations have been successfully completed. Initial well clean-up and flow back from the two zones commenced on 10 August with some gas recovered and flared during the operation, as shown in the attached photo. As at 6.00 am on 12 August (Perth time), flowback from the well was continuing at declining water rates and nitrogen lift was being used on the well. Measurement of gas flow rates will not be able to be made until clean-up and flow back of the well has been completed, which is expected during the next week. The forward plan is to continue clean up and flow back operations, collect gas samples for analysis and measure production data. Commenting on the results, AWE’s Managing Director Bruce Clement said: “These initial results are encouraging. The successful hydraulic stimulation of the two zones has confirmed that the Carynginia can be fracture stimulated and gas can be recovered from the shale. However, it is too early to draw any conclusions on actual gas flow rates and the commercial potential of the Carynginia shale.”
