Does anyone else think it strange that the same CGT applies to a share that's been held for 20 years as to one that's been held for 12 months? That is, both qualify for the same 50% discount, in spite of the ravages of inflation over the 19 year difference in holding time. I've investigated the indexation method and that comes up with a worse result than the discount method for a share held for 20 years.
