    Just another media beat up. Abbott wasn't suggesting anything that doesn't already happen. If a miner or oiler wants to drill on somebody's farmland, they have to ask permission and work out royalties.

    A mining or oil company cannot just waltz onto someone's property and start altering the landscape as they please.

    But of course in reality most farmers would probably rip their own gates off the hinges for the opportunity.

    If someone wants to tear up my backyard because there may be something under there, where do I sign?
