Is this Climate Alarmism at its worst?

For these Torres Strait Islanders, climate change is already here — and they're urging the government to do more - ABC News

This is a story on our 8c a day ABC. And this is the bit that is of concern:

"The scientific consensus suggests the world has about a decade to prevent some of the worst impacts of climate change from occurring — and many of the island communities in the Torres Strait hope their homes will be spared."

    And this:

"Scientific modelling suggests the sea level there could rise about 80 centimetres by the end of this century, which would mean the kinds of devastating weather events that normally occur once every 100 years could hit low-lying islands like Boigu every few days."

IF we assume that AGFrying (you might know of this as AGW/MMCC) is real (and I most definitely do not), how in the name of the Good Lord is anything we do NOW going to impact on what has been set in train for so long. What do these bu@3ers know about climate that we mere mortals do not? Do we really depend on "scientific consensus" to make decisions on such important issues? And if this is so, and it is not IMO, then why do they keep pushing out the time-frame we have left to do something about the coming "Climate Armageddon"? We have been told time and again that we have on x number of years left and that if we do not do so and so by that time then all the polar regions will have melted. If they were right the melting would already have occurred several times!

It is time that ScoMo held the ABC to account - put up or shut up!
