Keep in mind that the earth's continents has been part of a continental drift for 4.5 billion years. This may be a cause for some lands disappearing and others appearing.

The Torrest Stait was part of land bridges which connected Terra Australis to PNG and Tasmania and one can expect that the remainder of the TI islands will continue to disappear in the future regardless of what the climate does
