C.D.U.never owned the land next door,don't kid yourself
they don't know what is under the ground in Q M N.
Why do you think they kept so many shares????
As for the old shafts etc.that is exactly what
they look for.The gougers in the old days were the
experts in discovering minerals,they didn't have labs.to
send their samples off to get tested.They were their own geo's,and good at it as their livelihood depended on it
Camel trains were used to get the ore to Townsville
700 km away.Horses with drays etc couldn't transverse this
country,the Afghans learn't from the local aboriginals
how to live off the land.
In later years when Mt Isa opened up things changed
for the better in some ways, although a lot of successful
gougers started to misteriously disappear!!!!
Thats another story.
