I did read another interesting article recently but not sure where.
The gist of that one was that if the big South African platinum miners have to go into care & maintence mode, they will still incur huge losses. The reason for that is because of the underground operations. They need to keep the workings cool & dry, which requires a substantial amount of electricity.
This may mean it would be cheaper to continue mining (at a loss) rather than going into care & maintenance.
Obviously, that would not be good for the platinum price (on the supply side).
