Of course pollution levels will drop while the mine isnt in operation. So yes in 40 years of closure the levels have dropped. So I think what you hightlight is how can these pollution levels remain so high after these past decades It seems they could have been higher at a time and in so will the same practices be used again today?

What Jefferies had raised prior as to weather the mine pit could be pumped out absent treatment. Seems a bit more feasible to ask given now we see existing concerns are still found in this report at such levels, at the surface, for 5km.
