Nro I'll see if I can put you in contact with one of the miners from 1960s and see if they can answer that question for you
my guess would be that when they hit the fluorite topaz layer they thought there was no point going any further considering they had quite a bit of tailings to go through
probably got to this rock and couldn't be bothered making gemstones out of it
