I'm going to piggy back off of
@Chopsthecat using Instagram as our friend, in case some of you fine folk aren't hipster enough to enjoy the fine app. As well with my fine comments on the subject.
First lets have a top down view from a drone. I too am not in the study of water though there is a colour difference which could be from; A water density, perhaps fresh vs salt as well as added minerals. B depth. We know the pit is ~ 60m.
There is a naval ship, HDMS Triton a danish Frigate displacing 3,500 tonnes wikipedia says it's currently being used to exercise danish sovereignty over the waters around Greenland and the faroe islands. It frequently docks at the nearby wharf at Kangilinnguit
This photo has been taken on the 'wall' between the Fjord and the pit. this is looking into the pit as we can see some submerged wooden fencing.
Finally there is this photo taken in the winter, at some time. The pit appears to be frozen over, I would like to note that there are still some paths and it would seem that you'll need to plow out a road to Kangilinnguit during the winter if you were to use that option
NOW let's focus on closer pictures of that wall. Does it open and close, if anyone can tell that'll be great. I think they are supports that made the road easy to drive from the Red building, to where the old wharf was.
Finally I want to add this, the pit isn't the only thing there is, There's also some underground tunnels. I'm not sure where this is in relation to the pit or anything for that matter, Though this is in Ivittuut
