MOU Signed between China and the State of Victoria, Australia

On April 11th, POWERCHINA signed the MOU on city infrastructure development with the State of Victoria, Australia in Shanghai during the "China-Australia Week" event. The Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott witnessed the signing of the MOU between Denis Napthine, the Premier of the State of Victoria and Fan Jixiang, the president of POWERCHINA at the ceremony.

Both POWERCHINA and the State Government of Victoria promise in the MOU to cooperate and jointly carry out investment and development of major local infrastructure projects. The state government would take necessary measures to insure the business development of POWERCHINA in Victoria and to support POWERCHINA to establish a regional head office in Australia.

Abbott said Australia welcomed outstanding enterprises such as POWERCHINA to come to invest and carry out projects in Australia. The construction of infrastructure in Victoria would not only improve local facilities but also create more employment opportunities. He said that he would like to be the first "Prime Minister of Infrastructure" in Australia.

Fan introduced POWERCHINA's core businesses and the competitive advantages in the global infrastructure field. POWERCHINA had successful experience in projects such as the Qatar Road Series Projects and the International Airbus 380 Dedicated Airport Runway Project. He said his company was willing to carry out active cooperation with the State Government of Victoria and conform to its local laws. POWERCHINA was confident and had the capabilities in the investment and construction of local infrastructure. POWERCHINA hopes to contribute to the local development strategy and economic development in Victoria State, he concluded.
