Trees, this one's for you....(and hi to everyone else, been a few months since I last dropped in!)

Surf in the Philippines - I've got family up in mid-north-west Luzon (the main island) a little place called San Juan, in La Union province. When I visit I go surfing at the San Juan surf beach, it's positioned in a small bay so you've got two points which means that you have good chances of a decent wave regardless of swell direction (I'm a goofy footer and there's a sweet left break right smack bang out the front of the San Juan Surf resort http://www.sanjuansurfresort.com.ph/home/) Waves are intermediate, can hold rather large swell, nice easy rolling great for a longboard too. Make sure you go in season though.
Food, beer, rum, accommodation all very cheap.

AWESOME sunsets!!!! because it's on the west coast you get to see the sun set over the South China sea...nothing like kicking back with a cold beer after long riding the waves and just chilling out watching those sunsets.
