Gladstone won't extend expiring merger deal
THE CANADIAN PRESS
Gladstone Pacific Nickel Ltd., a junior Toronto miner, said it does not intend to extend a merger agreement with Resource Development International Ltd. that expires Tuesday.
Gladstone said the merger was subject to Resource Development being listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, a move that has been delayed.
"The RDI Hong Kong listing is on hold and is now expected to take place in the last half of 2009," stated RDI chairman Clive Palmer, who was previously chairman of Gladstone.
Gladstone owns the Gladstone Nickel project in Australia. It has signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of the project with China Metallurgical Construction (Group) Corp.
Shares in the company were unchanged at $3.50 in early Tuesday trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
