the old smug self-righteous 'if you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to hide' argument.
it's all about other people, not about normal people (whoever they are) going about their business (whatever that is).
other people, suspects (however they judge that on the street), those not on team australia.
not us, no! we're team australia!

it's not if you've done anything wrong, it's what someone can make of it.
and i for one don't want jumped-up paramilitary officers in silly uniforms on street corners seeing if there's something to be made of. that would be a decidedly backward step - not very liberal at all.
