When it comes to difficult issues, people are much more likely to follow people they trust.

The Abbott LNP govt is really building a reputation for making stupid decisions. The public has lost faith and will not therefore follow them when it comes to tough decisions.

Gillard sank to similar levels. In the end, any idea she had was met with derision. Her mere presence was annoying.

Abbott is not fighting Shorten. He is fighting himself.....and losing.
