I have been reviewing our RRL's with a view to adding and the current price seems attractive.

We bought originally on a friend's theory / suggestion. He said that if there's a serious crash, gold shares go up enormously which offsets the falls of your other shares and you maintain your position and can sell down your golds to buy more of the the other now-cheaper ones. His formula is hold RRL around 10% of your portfolio. Also, he said, RRL is particularly suitable as it pays a dividend and is a reasonable investment in its own right.

I continue to have niggling thoughts about understanding why gold is valued in the way it is.
