Sub, the cheerleaders and self promoters love to quote XYZ gold stock in the 1970s that increased 1000 times. Yes it happened and it's happening again... Red Back (now Kinross) is close to being a 100 bagger over the past 10-12 yrs, and has a way to go IMO. But for every Red Back there must be 100 losers so to be objective one should compare gold's performance with a stock index. There are thousands of juniors but only a few really make it. Funny you mention PRU and MML by the way... I hold significant stakes in both, and both have come through the GFC in good shape so far, without diluting their shareholders to smithereens. PRU has done particularly well imo, given it's not in production yet.
