You're probably right but that doesn't mean we should ignore him, because he speaks for the majority of americans.
The US has an unofficial motto "whatever it takes" and that's exactly what they're prepared to do. War, fraud, theft; anything goes in order to prolong the the US economic "miracle".
It'll all end in tears eventually but it's impossible to predict when. This imbalance could be maintained for years yet.

PS I hear on the news this AM that the US is considering its options on Iran based on "reliable" intelligence they are developing their nuclear weapons program. Here we go again.
