I disagree, I think Aboriginal burning did have the benefit of reducing major natural bushfires. But I think it also sped up the drying-out of Australia. Rainforest - over large enough areas - creates its own rainfall.
Replacing rainforest with grassland/gum landscapes (intentionally or not) through fire had the effect of speeding up drying out of the landscape.
