Say an SP plummets on Monday. Usually, you can expect it to also fall on Tuesday and Wednesday. At least.
Price rebounds during the few days of a good plummet are dead cat events- FOMO fueled punters rushing in before the price goes up again.
Topping up too soon increases the short term paper losses- or the long term loss if it goes completely pear shaped.
Something like that.
