Everyone wondering how whatsapp makes it's money...well they have 500 million active users and while I was in South America early this year/late last year (can't remember when exactly) but they decided they would charge an annual fee of $1 to use the service. BAM 500 million yearly gross revenue...simple.
Thats how they currently make their money. And yes it is huge there. If you run out of credit in say Argentina, you can't receive text's let alone call or send text's. So pretty much EVERYONE has whatapp.
