I have personally used it for calling, in fact to Vanuatu & Finland and found their rates to be much cheaper than my Optus provider.

Previous announcements have mentioned Zipt being the most data efficient voice call app there is currently on the market. For those who don't have unlimited data plans requiring cheap rates; well that's a market right there.
