seismic exploration doesn’t involve drilling at all. It’s used for broad area application and is more cost effective than drilling.
’nodes’ are placed into the surface of the ground, specialised machinery comes along at each node, drops down a big vibrating plate that puts through around 4000psi into the ground and scans the layers below the surface, the data is then harvested from the nodes and you’re able to see locations of coal; the depths, any faults etc etc
