why ask the Pope? why not ask the leaders from Saudi Arabia, or from Iran, or from Qatar, or from..........
I understand your point that in these countries Christians are not persecuting Christians. My point is that the Pope does have an interest because Christians are being persecuted by Muslims in these countries. The Irish didn't, as far as I know, target Muslims, so Imams may well have been happy to see Christians turn on Christians.
