Well those figures are quite surprising Alan and I think I see now where a discrepancy is arising. We are both only looking at birthrates for indiginous women where-as the aboriginal population is increasing faster than that because many white women are giving birth to children who have an indiginous father and so the kids are classed as Aboriginal/Islander.
This also means that the birth-rate of non-aboriginal women is not an accurate reflection of the birth-rate of non-aboriginals, which is actually lower than the figures are indicating.
This all comes about because anyone with any ATSI blood in them at all is classed as an ATSI person.
Even allowing for this though, I agree that I have mis-interpreted the figures to some extent though the general message of my posts in this thread is still correct, only the degree is altered.
