Islamic State embraces gunman Man Haron Monis over Sydney siege

ISLAMIC State has embraced Man Haron Monis for his horrific acts in Sydney, praising the killing of two “disbeliever” hostages at the Lindt cafe and describing him as “a Muslim who resolved to join the mujāhidīn of the Islamic State in their war against the crusader coalition”.
In its latest edition of the glossy Dabiq magazine released just hours ago, the group claimed in the foreword that Monis’ past sins — including allegations of being involved in the alleged murder of his ex-wife and sexually assaulting several women are now forgiven.
It also quoted posts that Monis had made on his website, where he pledged allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
“The new Man Haron Monis was a mujahid in the path of Allah,” the article said. “He declared himself to be upon pure tawhid (monotheism) and from Ahlus-Sunnah (Sunni Islam), announced his bay’ah to Khalīfah Ibrāhim alQurashī, and then marched forward to terrorize the kuffār (disbelievers) and bring victory to Allah’s religion.”

The terrorist group claimed that Monis was “one who followed up his repentance by fighting and being killed in the path of Allah, knowing the Prophet declared that such a person would be forgiven the moment his blood is first spilled.”
“His daring raid ended with two kāfir hostages dead, and four others wounded, including a police officer,” the group said in the article.
“Thus, he added his name to the list of Muslims who answered the Khilāfah’s call to strike those waging war against the Islamic State wherever they may be.”
Images of the siege and of Monis were also published with the article
Earlier this year, Islamic State spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani delivered a speech calling for lone-wolf attacks in Australia and other Western countries.
“If you can kill a disbelieving American or European — especially the spiteful and filthy French — or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be,” Adnani said in the speech.
“Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict.”
It is on the basis of this call for violence that the group claims Monis launched this month’s siege, and of the shooting death of Melbourne teen Numan Haider, who had attacked two counterterrorism officers with a knife in September.
In the new magazine, the group claims more attacks will be launched.
“There will be others who follow the examples set by Man Haron Monis and Numan Haider in Australia, Martin Couture-Rouleau and Michael Zehaf-Bibeau in Canada, Zale Thompson in America, and Bertrand Nzohabonayo in France, and all that the West will be able to do is to anxiously await the next round of slaughter and then issue the same tired, cliché statements in condemnation of it when it occurs,” the latest article said. “The Muslims will continue to defy the kāfir war machine, flanking the crusaders on their own streets and bringing the war back to their own soil.”
The magazine also featured a purported interview with Jordanian air force pilot Mu’ath al-Kaseasbeh, who was captured by the group in Syria last week when his plane went down during a mission.
It claims that al-Kaseasbeh told the group that his plane was hit by a heat-seeking missile.
In one question, he was told he would be forced to watch a beheading video before being asked if he knew what Islamic State would do to him.
“Yes … They will kill me,” he was quoted as saying.
