    And by and large Englishness has been maintained. I suspect that in fifty years time Britons will look back with amusement at how at the turn of the century there was so much fear about islam. A couple of generations of living in a freer society will whittle away most of the constraints islam places upon its adherents. A more mature islam will emerge, in a lot shorter time that it took Christianity to mature from its era of total female submission, child marriages, burning of apostates, blind belief in religious dogma against all the scientific evidence and war upon other religions (including its own - just like shiites against sunnis).

    I sincerely hope that you are right.

    Muslims would have to give up a lot of the directives in the Quran as Christians have had to do especially in the OT.

    Christians have been accused of cherry picking directives such as love you enemies, but at least there are a fair number of cherries to pick. The Quran cherry tree seems to be quite bare by comparison.

    IMO, a critical question is: are they prepared to give up their stated objective of domination?
