Some work goes overseas because these corporations know they can go to third world countries and exploit the human suffering and give them 3 or 5 dollars a day wages. Its not because they are not profitable here its because a corporation and its board members have no compassion but for their own self.
I don't see miners walking out the door, but I do see them digging up our ore and after all the government incentives they pay bugger all in tax and get most of it back by flipping money into overseas subsidiary companies and parent companies and in that way they can cook the books. You know as well as I do that happens all the time.
Ive been to see a couple of factories in a third world country and I talked to the workers. They live in chook pens mate that is what I would call where they lived because the chooks live in that type of hut in Australia. These people were living in abject poverty and were getting about $5 a day for a 12 hour day which even in that country is not enough to live on for a family. They employ kids as young as 10 yo who have no chance of getting an education. Go to one of these countries and have a look and then tell me you would rather live in that country. The workers are abused and prayed upon by the corporations in these countries and you make it sound like these corporations are doing the right thing.
What the world should be doing is forcing these blood sucking corporations into paying a descent wage world wide based on the cost of living and having a descent house and food and healthcare and welfare, you know like Australia has.
You are kidding if you think these corporations cant make a profit in Australia it is bullshit. They just know the authorities will allow them to illegally prey on the poor in third world countries.
No one with a conscience could say these corporations are fair and honest.
Mate if you feel that strongly about lowering wages might I suggest you tell the company to pay you less and live by your convictions or don't you work for a living?? You sound like a payed Corporate PR person to me.
