israel, a democracy? doesn't look like it

Some will argue that Israel is a modern democracy. Let's see if this is the case, shall we?

Until 7 October it was kind of democracy but strictly for the Jews, definitely not for all other non-Jewish citizens of Israel and definitely not for the Palestinians in the occupied territories under Israel's control.

Today, however, it is clear that Israel is NOT a democracy even for the Israeli Jews. And this has been the case for a while now.
So what type of state is Israel turning into? A fascist apartheid dictatorship run by far-right religious zealots of Netanyahu gov?

One of the tenets of democracy is freedom of speech and free press.
The Guardian is quoting today Israeli leftwing newspaper Haaretz whose journalist has been recently gagged and threatened.
